The Bone Ossuary in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic, was one of the most Gothic yet spiritually inspiring places I've ever seen. Decorated entirely in human bones by a monk/sculptor several hundred years ago, this shot shows the main altar in the center of the church.

Enlightenment

I photographed this peaceful Buddha statue at the Omega Institute in New York. This is a site of spiritual retreat and meditation. I enhanced the image digitally to add to the ethereal feeling experienced through meditation.

Winter Walk

I took this photo while strolling through a tree-lined pathway. This is an in-camera double exposure that I severely manipulated in the computer. I wanted it to have a wintery, icy feel to it. The patterns that the branches form look almost like frost.

Treelights 18

Taken during the same NJ foggy evening as my other digital photos in the "Treelights" series, this image reminds me of a crisp, mysterious Halloween night. The bright orange glow of the backlighting gives it this feel to me.

Ossuary Spiral

I've never seen a more Gothic place than the famous Kutna Hora Bone Ossuary in the outskirts of Prague! The inside of this ancient church is decorated in human bones of the thousands that desired to spend eternity in this sacred ground. This computer-enhanced digital photo was taken of the central chandelier, composed of EVERY type of bone in the human body! I added the spiritual and astrological symbols, and created the swirl effect, to heighten the magical, mysterious qualities of the image.

This lonely stretch of road was shot on a foggy night in NJ. The pitchfork-tar patern in the pavement is actually there! Using the computer, I was able to enhance the mystical, fuzzy appearance of the scene.

I loved the backlighting behind the trees. This was taken on a foggy night so it really enhanced the luminous, and somewhat ominous, effect, almost making the trees seem alive!

Night Prayer

This enhanced digital photo was taken in a Russian cemetery in NJ. Originally shot during the daytime in bright sunlight, the computer effects allowed me to give the image a Gothic, night-time, moonlit appearance.
